Road Safety Workshop

Today Katie from the Road Safety Authority visited our classroom to talk to us about road safety. We know lots already and were happy to answer Katie's questions about staying safe when walking, cycling and in the car.
We listened to a story about a boy called Simon. He made a mistake on the road and we discussed the dangers of his mistake. The story had an important message.
We danced to the Safe Cross Code song and we hope to do some more practice on the dance moves.
As a reward for excellent listening, we got a colouring book.

Valentine's Day Art

We made Valentine's Day Love Trees for our mammies and daddies who we love very much.

Maths - Length

We have been very busy measuring in Maths.  We wanted to find out how long, tall and wide things are in our classroom. We guessed first and then we used lollipop sticks and cubes to measure.

We recorded our work on our worksheets and chatted about our findings. We compared items to find out which was the longest, shortest, tallest, widest, narrowest etc.  We worked very well.

Pancake Tuesday

Pancake Tuesday is one of our favourite days of the year. Today we all helped to make pancakes by adding the ingredients and stirring the batter. When the pancakes were cooked, we chose our favourite topping. Yummy!!

We also sang the pancake song, listened to some pancake stories and did some pancake writing.

Grandparents Day

Today we went to the church for a special mass for our grandparents. We said prayers for our grandparents.

Some of our grandparents visited our classroom. We were very happy to see them.  We wanted to find out about school life when they were young. They answered our questions...we loved to hear their school stories! We also had a sing song.

The Starry Night

We looked at Van Gogh's famous piece 'The Starry Night'. We painted our own 'Starry Night's'.
