Oiche Shamhna

This week is Halloween week in our classroom.

We learned Halloween words as Gaeilge, sang Halloween songs, made spooky pumpkins, read Halloween stories and did Halloween writing.

One of the stories we read was 'Room on the Broom' by Julia Donaldson. We really enjoyed it. We watched the animation of it also.

The highlight of the week was our Halloween Fancy Dress Parade. We were very excited to put on our costumes. Some of us really scared Teacher!!!

Our Trip to the Bottle Bank

This fortnight we did lessons on Recycling. We looked at the bottle bank in our town and discussed how we can care for our town/world by recycling glass.

Today we helped our teacher by taking a trip to the bottle bank to recycle bottles, jars and cans. We sorted the glass by colour and put them into the correct bank.

We had fun on our walk through the town. Thanks to our senior buddies for joining us on our journey.

Teddy Bears

In History we talked about toys we played with as a baby and toys we have now. We noticed that we played with teddy bears as babies and still have them as toys now. We coloured, cut and made teddies. We did a super job!!

Maths Week

As part of Maths Week, we went on a Maths trail outside. We teamed up with our Junior Infant buddies and worked together to count and to find shapes and colours. Our teachers were delighted with our hard work!

National Flag Ceremony

Today, two members of the Irish Army visited our school. They presented us with an Irish flag. We learned that the Republic of Ireland is nearly 100 years old.  We are proud to be Irish and to wave our Irish flags.

Autumn Walk

Our theme this fortnight is Autumn. We were delighted to get out in the sunny weather for an Autumn walk.

We noticed a horse chestnut tree and collected leaves, chestnuts and conkers.

We are also learning about the sycamore and oak tree. We hope to find these trees in our town and to collect leaves, helicopters and acorns.
